I had an excellent experience. The job was complex, but everyone kept me well informed throughout the entire process. I felt as if they really cared about customer satisfaction and more importantly, I truly believed that their rates are fair. As a female, I often worry about being fleeced by transmission specialists, but their honesty is reassuring.
Amazing service. They even took the time to check if the brakes were working properly both front to back instead of just replacing my worn out brakes. They really go above and beyond to make sure your car is working properly.
Thanks for the excellent service! I called in about VSC & check engine light on my Lexus RX 300. Derek and his team were able to diagnose the issue and on top of that provide a routine check up for other parts of my car as well (breaks, filter, etc). "It is incredibly hard to find an honest mechanic, and Derek Tinder the owner of AAMCO in Walnut Creek CA, completely won my trust. I brought my 2017 Honda CRV )100,000) miles for a diagnostic test because Honda Dealership told me that the transmission failed and needed a new transmission which would cost me $10,000 and Derek and his staff were able to repair an outside component of the transmission wth a reasonable price and walked me through the exact estimate before doing any work and my car is running great. Yesterday I took my car back for oil change, replace spark plug with tire rotation and again Derek and his team did an excellent work. I Highly recommend Derek from Aamco Transmission for fair pricing and great workmanship!
We had an incredibly positive experience with Derek. We called AAMCO looking for a second opinion after another shop told us our Prius likely needed more than $3,000 in engine repairs, and from the very beginning, Derek treated us like family. He spent a remarkably generous amount of time on the phone with us, patiently listening to the whole story, explaining what our diagnostic codes actually meant, and answering question after question from both me and my partner. We never felt rushed or talked down to, even though we knew very little about cars and were understandably nervous about whether ours was safe to drive. What impressed us most was how little interest Derek seemed to have in selling us something we might not need. Based on what we described, he explained that the problem may have been caused by our oil having gotten extremely low and dirty, and that since we'd already changed the oil and the warning lights had stayed off, he wouldn't rush into an expensive repair. Instead, he suggested we keep an eye on it and even invited us to bring the car by so he could check the oil level and condition for free. That kind of honesty is incredibly rare. A less trustworthy shop could easily have taken advantage of how worried and inexperienced we were. Instead, Derek went out of his way to help us understand the situation and potentially saved us from spending over $3,000 on a repair that may not be necessary. We got off the phone feeling enormously relieved and, more importantly, like we'd found a mechanic we could actually trust. To us, choosing a mechanic is a lot like choosing a doctor. It is not a light decision, and Derek gave us some of the best customer service we've ever received. We would wholeheartedly recommend him to any of our family or friends, and that is probably the highest compliment we can give. Thank you, Derek!

Derek is a class act!!! Felt completely embarrassed calling for transmission advice from a tech.
